Comment on Are Higher Sample Rates Becoming Obsolete? by sean

I sure hope high bit rates aren't becoming obsolete. I love being able to get high quality downloads from Bandcamp, I wish everyone was on there... I always go for FLACs when I can.

I too have the mobile music dilemma. Personally, I wish my old iPod still worked, I miss being able to tote gigs and gigs of FLAC files with me (possible via custom firmware, of course). Right now I stream music to my phone from home, but it's a 96kbps mp3 stream... ouch. Maybe someday I'll get enterprise class internet access so I can bump it up to at least 192k, or Ogg/Vorbis...

I'm still using Cynthcart, it's great for some quick patches like you said, but the whole aspect of sending and quantizing midi info to and from the c64 seem to be a bit difficult still. I could use my DD-20 to loop but it's quite difficult to get the timing perfect, especially when playing to a metronome [the start and stop on the pedal never seem to line up perfectly].

Are you using Cynthcart? It's great for playing live and looping with a pedal, but I know there are other options out there that lend themselves more to controlling the C64/SID via MIDI... The MSSIAH cartridge is one I need to pick up sometime. Another one, which I've tinkered with a bit, is M64, which is a scripting language that lets you create your own SID patches and is MIDI-controllable, but you need to score a C64 MIDI interface cartridge which are kind of tough to find these days.
